Why, How, What

Why

I belief the beter we know Why we do what we do. We understand each other better and we can connect beter. In this way we can find out what we and the planet really need.

How

By analyzing why people do what they do we can see patterns of behaviour and see where needs are and will come. Also we can find out where things need to change to be sustainable.

What

If we analyse behaviour and know why people do what they do we can create solution for the current and coming needs with the perspective on the end user. So they will adopt the product, service or movement as their own. Experience how it helps making life a bit easier and more sustainable.

Visie

The better you know what moves people and why they do what they do. The better you can respond to the needs. Each country has its own behaviour and culture what their distinction from other countries. How different are we? And are these differences culture/ country related?

Like to look with an analytic look to my environment and try to understand what drives people. Questions, fascinations, irritations, problems that incentive me to do research and design. What can I do for an other? How can I bring my point of view about life across and simplify and improve this? I have always been curious about everyday things, behaviour, health care, social problems and access structures. By analyzing, I try to obtain insights that I can substantiate investigations, testing, and sharing. So that we better understand each other and the world around us, and can take action. Together we can construct more liveable places on the basis of mutual understanding and respect.

My name is Sharon Marcelis graduateded product design student at the Utrecht School of Arts.

Research

Every proces starts with research. You can do this in many differend ways.

I used some design methodes and made some of my own. the research part is the part i like the most of the design proces. I like to use the see it as a separated thing from product design so you can aply this part of the proces on nearly everything.

Research

Bicycle Culture.

In the search for the bicycle culture I focused on the transportation on the bike. Especially i have mainly focused on transporting groceries. For my research I have gone to different supermarkets to do field research. I have been looking at: how people prefer to carry their groceries and could this be related to; supermarket, age, type of bike and distance.

Pesticide/Monsato

The research for the use of pesticide and agriculture products by Monsato originated from disbelief. It comes on our daily food products that are sprayed with poison for animals. What's the harm of this product for us?
Not to mention the products of Monsato and the course of action that the company has done to its users. They are making everyone dependent on the products they deliver. It is absurd that it is possible that the seeds they deliver are manipulated in such a way that bigger and more fruits of less plants transpire, in the meanwhile you will damage your lands more and more until only the products of Monsato can still grow on that land. What poisons do they use?

As a protest I have made some fruits looking more tastier than they possible should. Untill you have a second look at them, the products are too beautiful / shiny from the chemicals they are treated with. Would you still want to eat these fruits?
This is what our food with pesticide and Monsato does!

Lost and found

Everyone has lost something. Have you ever wondered where all our lost goods remain? In the search for found objects I have investigated what is already lost, where things get lost, what are the rights and obligations of found objects and where will the objects stay if no one comes to collect? For this research I went to a number of public places, health institutions, leisure and transportation companies to find an answer. This is how I gain new insights in the way that the lost goods are processed and where they possible can wind up.

Meet up game.

We need each other to grow. Teamwork is the sollution! Looking from an angle of lost opportunities, I will look at the current job market and what the working environment has to offer. Aside of the huge amount of knowledge that is present. The use of this knowledge is not always used to its potential.

By bringing two people together in a business call with two completely different workfields/backgrounds, I hope to stimulate opportunities. By doing so the working environment will spark new ideas more often. And start up meaningfull working synergy.

I am convinced that this business partner from that totally different field. Can be the solution for the problems where you been struggling against for so long, with his expertise. The only thing you need to do is embrace this new connection.

Emotion Colors.

With Emotion Colors we make devices to help people who have problems communicating their emotions. With The Glow, a health tech wareable, they can communicate their emotions with en bracelet that shows their emotions by color. This makes it easier for them to tell how they feel without getting too close. With Emotion Color we want to bring people together en break down the issues around emotional distance and empathy.

Product design

In order to make and design something new to make it fit in a surrounding, i made differend kind of products during my studing years. Here are some of the products I made. Also most of the products are prototypes and design by special orders and wishes.
